Men's Khakis and Slacks | Proper Fitting Pants
Alpha can't stand shopping for pants off-the-rack. He doesn't love the fit, so he buys a pants that are passable and not 'great'. Aaron Marino of alpha m. covers the three most common pants as well as the difference between khakis and chinos.

Khakis: Guys love khakis that refer to color and style. They fit the average man (who is 40 pound overweight on the average), which is loose and comfortable. They come in flat front or pleated. There are 20 shades of khaki from sand to dark green. Khaki pants are casual cotton pant although guys try to dress them up. They are an alternative to jeans.

Chinos: A slightly dressier option is a chino. It's a better fitting version of the sloppy khaki pant. They come in 100% cotton or cotton / synthetic blend. The most distinguishing feature is the fit which is slimmer leg with lower rise and tapered ankle. The chino gives you a clean and simple line. It's a bit dressier than khakis.

Dress Pants: Every man needs a perfectly fitting pair of flat front dress pants. The fabric is wool or synthetic (micro-fiber). Alpha presents an example of the synthetic micro-fiber pant. These pants looks great in the store and are reasonably priced but you're wasting your money as they show age quickly. You need to buy a higher quality version. Alpha recommends the wool dress pant. The wool is  finer, softer, plusher, and breathable that is an all weather wool.

In-Between Pants | Business Casual Pants -
December 24, 2011
There are numerous styles of pants on the market for men today, from jeans to dress slacks, but this article is going to talk about what I like to refer to as “In-Between” pants. These are pants that are also classified as “business casual” – not jeans, but not dressy slacks, either.  In-Between pants are casual and typically include khakis, chinos and corduroys; all pants that can be aRead More»
Men's Professional Watches -
December 18, 2011
Back in the 40’s and 50’s, watches were not something that everyone had the luxury of owning, and those who did had something to be proud of.  Men took great pride in passing them down from generation to generation.  But with the popularity of cell phones, in addition to more casual business environments, men have begun to abandon wrist watches in exchange for cell phones as their means of kRead More»
Belts 101 -
December 18, 2011
Belts, both functional and fashionable, come in an assortment of styles, colors and types, and without one, make a pair of pants look naked. Like everything else we wear, belts are a reflection of our personality and fashion sense, and have the ability to make or break an outfit. Belts give our body a balanced look, separating our upper from our lower; creating symmetry no matter what our shape orRead More»
How To Buy A Men’s Suit -
December 16, 2011
Nothing makes us feel quite as attractive and confident as a well fitting suit. Wearing it has a way of making us feel powerful, and tends to bring out the best in us. As a main player in everyman’s wardrobe arsenal, I recommend owning at least one suit; preferably more to include a variety of colors and fabrics. Time and time again, I hear men express concerns about buying a suit, so I’ve wriRead More»

Hello!  My name is Aaron Marino and I’m five feet-six inches tall.  If you’re one of the millions classified as short, I understand the wardrobe challenges we have.  Dressing can be especially frustrating and disappointing – from finding the right clothing to wearing it properly –  so, I’d like to share what I call the “smoke and mirrors” way of dressing to look taller. This artiRead More»
Improving Your Style from the Far East -
December 16, 2011
Over the past year, I have had the fortunate opportunity to visit Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea on separate occasions for leisure. During each of my trips to these east Asian countries, I not only experienced a wholly different culture, complete with unique languages, customs, and foods, but also the distinct styles expressed by the people in each country. I really did not know what to expect Read More»
Fashion Forward Over Forty | Middle Age Style -
December 16, 2011
As if turning 40 isn’t tough enough, having to wrap our heads around all the changes taking place with our bodies, health and image can be pretty overwhelming, not to mention a serious attack on the old ego. It’s difficult making the adjustments because in our minds we’re still 20 years old. But, it eventually gets to a point when we’re the only one seeing ourselves that age, and we need tRead More»
All Men Were Not Created Equal | Heavy Set or Skinny and Tall -
December 15, 2011
All men were not created equal!  Whoever said that we were didn’t understand fashion or style.  Our female counterparts have it much tougher than we do; many more shapes and curves to be aware of and try to accommodate or camouflage. But this doesn’t mean that we don’t have to pay attention or understand the basics.  Remember, fashion refers to the clothing itself, while the word style isRead More»
