Is doing cardio on empty stomach beneficial or not? Aaron Marino of alpha m. discusses his opinion about whether cardio on an empty stomach causes a catabolic state.

Muscle takes years to put on and won't vanish from doing cardio on an empty stomach. You can go hours without eating without your body cannibalize itself. Long distance runners going into a catabolic state because they can't consume enough calories to sustain.

Skipping  breakfast or not eating for an hour after a workout will not cause your body to deteriorate. Once you have muscle, it doesn't go away all that easy. Performing cardio on an empty stomach, however, will get into those fat stores-- so do it!
