We talk about the importance about knowing who you are. A key to the confidence equation is having a strong sense of self. So who you are and what you are capable of? Aaron Marino of alpha m. discusses how he’s limited himself because of arbitrary restrictions and limitations that he set upon himself years ago. Why do we have these limitations? What are our personal limitations? It’s time to stop living like the elephant.
Alpha explains that the giant elephant is tied by little ropes and tiny stakes. Why don’t they get loose? Because when they ‘joined the circus’ as baby elephants, they were conditioned. They were tied down by big ropes and strong stakes. They tried to break free but couldn’t. Eventually they stop trying to break free. The massive adult elephant remembers when he was little that he learned that couldn’t– so he doesn’t.
We create these standards for ourselves, like the elephant, and remain chained. Analyze and identify the limitations to break the chains. We are powerful. The only thing holding you back are these preconceived notions that we can’t.
When you were a little kid, was there someone who told you that you couldn’t? As you grow, people tell you ‘no’ and that you ‘can’t’. So often the negative people in your life stick out, and in the back of our heads, we set these self-imposed limitations.
It’s time to break the chains. Where do you have limitations in your life, and what is holding you back? You are strong enough, smart enough, fast enough, confidence enough. Live with passion and purpose. We all struggle with negative thoughts and preconceived notions. Believe in yourself. Don’t let other people set your expectations of yourself. You can do anything you want. Break the chains and stop living like an elephant.
