Support During Self Improvement
Alpha gets quite a few emails from viewers that are taking better care of themselves but their significant other is not supportive. Instead of support, they are getting grief, lip, or no attention at all. In this video men’s style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro says the reasons boil down to change and insecurity.
Change
Change is difficult for a lot of people. They like consistency even if it’s uncomfortable. Change can be scary, and comfort ruts can develop in relationships. However, when one of the partners improves, the other freaks out and wonders why the other is changing. The partner gets suspicious and can’t deal with the changes. A wedge can result.
Insecurity
Insecurities in self or the relationship can be reasons a significant other is not supportive. Due to not being supportive, questioning can occur which can then cause a wedge. Insecurity can happen for both men and women.
Communication
Resentment or breaking-up are results of the wedge. To combat this wedge, communication is the cornerstone of a healthy relationship. If you feel you’re not getting support. explain the reasons behind your changes, how the changes will improve you, and how important these changes are to you. Also explain how their support would mean the world to you.
