A question that keeps coming up with supplements is whether the brand matters. Aaron Marino of alpha m. says ‘no’ that the brand doesn’t matter but that it’s a bit more complicated. You need to buy it from a reputable location:
- Protein powder is manufactured and then companies are selling the same powder. The reality is that they’re packing from the same manufacturer. What matters is where you are buying the powder. Don’t buy from a grocery store or drugstore because the quality manufacturers doesn’t sell to them. Purchase from specialized distributors / retailers like nutrition stores, vitamins.com or bodybuilding.com.
- Products that take finesse with manufacturing shipping, and storing need to be purchased from specialized distributors. Supplements like acidophilus which are live bacteria that need to be kept at a refrigerated temperature.
- Fish oil needs to be watched for quality. Some companies do a better job, and Aaron gives examples.
- Multivitamins should not be ‘crappy’ versions that won’t be absorbed. The quality ones are taken 2 to 3 per day. One pill of the high quality is absorbed than the super monster vitamin.
