You just don’t wake up with the skill of small talk, so you have to develop and practice small talk. Aaron Marino of alpha m. and Papa Alpha go over some do’s and don’ts of small talk in this segment:
Some do’s are
- eye contact
- listen more than you speak
- ask questions
- remember people’s names
- pay attention to body language and read social cues
Some don’ts are
- don’t lead the conversation with the subject the weather- you can do better than that!
- don’t use gossip as small talk or gossip about people in the room
- don’t just speak to one person
