Professional male image consultant and style guru, Aaron Marino, helps you pick the right men’s pants and slacks for body type. Pants and slacks are an essential part of the male wardrobe.
For this video, Alpha is going to use the term *pants* which refers to both khaki pants and dress slacks. A good pair of pants should be flat front, no cuff, medium rise, and partial rise:
- When shopping for pants, no matter what size you are, EVERYONE looks better with flat front pants rather than pleated pants. You will look sexier, leaner, and better!
- The straight hem (no cuff) looks a whole lot cleaner than cuffs. Cuffs break that visual line with all of that bunching, bagging, and extra fabric.
- The rise (length of crotch) come in regular (9 – 10 inches) and medium. The medium makes your legs look longer without all that extra fabric. If you jack your pants high, you’ll look like a dork. Wear on your hips. Alpha lists great options!
- The pant break is the length of the pant (where it ends): no break (pant straight across, hitting higher on the shoe, looks too short because you can see socks), partial break (fold of fabric on the front, not to heel), and full break.
Alpha reviews the selections for a proper fitting pair of pants. He also demonstrates how the pant should fit. Go to your closet and take an inventory of the bullets above. Remember that when you are wearing pants, they can fit differently because of the shirt you’re tucking-in and the underwear you are wearing. One more tip is that when you are buying pants, wear the shoes that you will be wearing with the pants when you go to the store to try them on.
