Straight-forward and direct, here’s what you do NOT want in men’s jeans:
- jeans that taper. This means you don’t want a pair of jeans that get narrow as they go down your leg, ending with a tight ring around your ankle.
- anything that’s been acid washed, or makes one start reminiscing about hair-band videos from the 1980’s. Acid washed jeans are like leisure suits – they will never come back into style.
- anything with ripped out knees, holes or long threads hanging out anywhere. Just like #2 is reminiscent of the ’80’s… well this was cool in the 90’s. And we’re not in the ’90’s anymore.
- any designer pockets on your rear .not a great image to attract women.
So what do you WANT in men’s jeans?
- pair of jeans that fit your hips. nothing tight!
- natural jeans colors. Dark blue, medium blue, light blue. Stay away from white, black, and tan.
- at least reach the top part of your shoe sole (heel, if you’re wearing boots) a man whose jeans hem barely touches his shoelaces looks awkward.
- stonewashed jeans. stonewashed is not the same as acid washed. remember that tip!
If you’re uncertain, go to a department store (like Macy’s) and ask for assistance. Make sure to ask one of the girls and not one of the guys, as you want a woman’s opinion. Jeans go with everything, and they’re classic. So, if you buy the right style, they will always be in fashion and always look good on you. You don’t need anything expensive, just something durable and well-made.
